Wrapped in Rubies looks to be very similar to butter LONDON’s Perfect Prezzie.  Unfortunately, Perfect Prezzie sold in a recent blog sale so I can’t do a size by size comparison.  Click on the links for lulz anyway: my photography has come A LONG way peoples.

The philosophy of both lacquers is the same.  Combine red with swathes of gold and hope for the best.

Wrapped in Rubies does pull off the look better than Perfect Prezzie as the gold does translate to the nail. Somewhat.  But it’s still very subtle and pretty much unnoticeable unless you’re actively looking for it.

If the colour isn’t a perfect success, then the formula is.  This is a genuine, no fooling, hands down, pants down, one coater.  What you see here is one, single, thin coat.  For me, that’s amazing that a colour like this (with frost in it no less) can apply so smoothly and perfectly.

Essie, I kneel at your feet.

Wow, that is impressive. One coat? I need me some Essie!

This is gorgeous! Well much more gorgeous in the bottle.  Shame more gold doesn’t show on the nails.

  • Trixie of Nailfiled

This looks soooo pretty and elegant.

It was amazing. I was shocked because Essie is such a layering brand normally.

Thank you thank you thank you!

It always seems the way with these lacquers Lucy. A good idea but execution never quite measures up.

It was be PERFECT for an evening event.

Gorgeous colour. I clicked on the link, your photos have come a long way. You, unlike me, have discovered the joy of angling, I really must start doing that. Maybe if I do a velociraptor will appear in your bathroom.

Here’s hoping. Yes, my photos when I first started weren’t the same quality as they are now. The colours are accurate but the sharpness is lacking.

Very pretty. I like the gold shimmer!

  • emmajoy

That’s one coat? AMAZING! I do wish it looked more on the nails like it does in the bottle, though.

I think this is a really beautiful colour :)
Btw, thank’s to your amazing swatches I decided to get some of the polishes from the Metro collection!

Oooh I hope you like, let me know what you think.

Me too. I’ve never found a lacquer that quite pulls off the concept unfortunately. :-(

Yes siree, one coat. It’s awesome.

ZOMG indeed. I was all kinds of amazed.

  • Hauteandstylish

Really really love this one Jacie. It’s perfect!

    Thanks lovely.

This looks great on you. My bottle has so much gold shimmer that when I put it on it looks rusty rather than ruby, not a good shade on me. I’ll have to drag it out and try it again this fall.

  • Anonymous

That’s so strange isn’t it? I actually want to try it because I want more gold dammit.

  • Sandi

Well if the darn postal people weren’t so anal (yours and mine), I’d say let’s swap!

Oh, hawt. This inspired me to put on Essie After Sex for tonight, actually. Another great shade, btw.

    Thanks lovely.

Lord I know. I need to wait until my parents come out to Australia from Europe, or my brother visits from the US. Then I can send lacquers back with them.
